I just finished my Elena! I’m very happy about this one! I made it with midweight linen—color is Antique. I made size small so I was able to get this out of 3 yards of linen with nothing but scraps left. In fact, I was forced to Seam one of my sleeves down the center because I couldn’t cut it on a fold! I think it looks awesome! Gonna‘ say I planned it that way! I took my time with this one—making French seams and top stitching quite a bit. I also made a small modification at the sleeve bottoms, adding a band with a tuck and making them long. I’m not decided if I’ll add a button or just wear a vintage pin to close it. I’m wearing it with Bella from an earlier post, made in Indian block print voile. Can’t wait for Fall!

So cool just love that coat, the linen is gorgeous. I plan on making one this winter hopefully we will get one.
Thank you!
Another winner. Love the coat. It’s terrific for our fall weather and looks great over the Bella. It’s amazing how constraints sometimes bring about heightened problem solving and/or creativity. You‘ve inspired my making again!
Thank you Laura!
What an incredible job you’ve done a marvelous job. Aren’t you excited for cooler weather?
Thank you! Yes—so tired of the heat!
The Elena looks fantastic and fits you so well - congrats! :)
The pattern is also on my to-do-list; I planned to make it in a wool oder wool mix for autumn, but haven´t found the right fabric yet.
It’s a really great pattern! Good luck!
@Pamela Hello Pamela!
Would you mind sharing a bit more about your Elena?
Which size did you cut?
Are the sleeves wide enought to wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath?
I cut out the Elena paper pattern yesterday. I went for a M-size, but I´m not sure I met the right lines, because the line-symbol disappears or chances. I guess I will do a mock-up, but any information beforehand is very welcome.
I was trying to get this coat onto 3 yards of fabric so I cut it small. For reference, I have a 39” bust. I think it is roomy on me so that worked out. I would say that the sleeves seem narrow to me at the top. If I make the coat again I’ll cut the sleeves wider by a couple of inches. I had thinner arms at one point but I’m heavier than I used to be and my arms are wider. 😬 I think I could wear it over a long sleeve as long as it’s not too bulky. I recommend that you measure the circumference of your arm at the top and above your elbow and adjust the width of the sleeve as appropriate. Good luck!
I love it! Do you think this pattern can easily be altered into the stunning grey wool plaid double-breasted beauty seen in TG's Couture line? Asking for a friend...
I haven’t seen what you are referring to but there is a fair amount of room to overlap the fronts. I am planning to make this again as a wrap dress to be worn over a slip.
