My fabric from Japan came and it’s lovely. This first piece I’ve made Elota in, is %100 cotton from Cotton N Steele in a color I call Midnight blue with little black flowers printed on it. The picture makes it appear brighter than it really is, and it’s not really navy. For Elota I used the XS but had to add a 1” gusset under at the underarm to fit my bust. I wanted a smooth look so I put my French seams to the underneath of the dress. I’m very happy with it. I hand stitch all my bindings for a finished look. I’ll be able to wear this almost to cold weather.

I'm really falling in love with this pattern. I think the shape is wonderful and each fabric & finishing technique gives it such a different personality.
Its the truth. When I first saw it I wasn’t sure. But after I’ve seen it made up I’ve grown to admire it more and more.
It's interesting what a different 'personality ' changing the seaming gives it. I really like your fabric choice.
Just love your Elota I also sewed my seams flat on the inside, I just don't like french seams. If I make it again I will have to add that gusset too.
I used French seams, but put them on the inside. If I use it again. I will use flat seams. I liked the size everywhere else but just needed the extra inch in my bust.
LOVE! Love your fabric and love how this turned out! I‘m thrilled to see this with the seams inside. I was wonderomg how the look would change. Elota is a great pattern!
This is so beautiful - nice fabric + lovely made dress + gorgeous lady = great combination!
I can´t wait for the fabric I ordered for my own Elota - also a japanese cotton in dusty-rose with a tiny traditional geometrical pattern. Also not so sure about the french seams on the outside, but I thought about a fine. flexible ... uhhh, whats the word is in English? "Kederband" = maybe a "corded welting" (??) in a bit contrasting color to accentuate the seams... but not sure, if this would make the seams too stiff.
That’s what’s I was afraid of. But Pamela put her French seams in the outside and she was happy. I think that’s part of the Beauty of the design. It’s so flexible.
