Hi everyone. I’ve been following the posts for a few weeks and I love seeing the clothes and reading all the wonderful ideas. I finally finished my first outfit. First, the Poppy Slip out of a vintage white linen tablecloth. I had to make a seam down the back to get the pattern onto the fabric. The two things I’ll say about Poppy are that it’s very long (I’m 5’5”), and the armholes are very large so I would need an undergarment or teeshirt that could show if I were to wear Poppy on its own. If I make it again I think I’ll shorten it a bit and make the armholes smaller. I love its gathered hem. Haha! I need to shorten those ties before it wear it!
Second is Annabelle out of some blue chambray I had in my stash. Here is what happened with Annabelle: first, the arm and head holes were very small (I am a medium in these patterns). I had to laugh because I don’t think a baby could have gotten her head through that opening, let alone my huge noggin. I also would note that the pattern uses a three inch ruffle but in the picture of Annabelle the ruffle looks much deeper, maybe even 6 inches on the under ruffle and 5 on the upper layer. Regardless, I had a limited amount of fabric and used the pattern although it would be easy enough to make the ruffles longer next time. Anyway, I think my Annable is a bit short for my Poppy, although it’s a great tunic length. All that said, I love the pieces and I know I can keep mixing and matching, so I’m not worried if these two don’t end up together in the end. Next up, some pants. Hmm, which pair to try first?
