Believe it or not this dress started out as Eileen. I finished the Eileen dress,(sorry...forgot to take pictures to busy tearing it all apart!) but...it just was not me. My fabrics were repurposed Silk Sari Tunic and repurposed, tea stained light weight cotton fabric from my fabric hoard. I recut the Eileen bodice using my Prairie Slip pattern, I kept the neck line higher and I shortened the waist line. I used a new repurposed heavy weight linen towel for the bias ...that just did not lay right...???? but fixed with the addition of button embellishment around the neck (which I like very much). The Elope I made last fall fits nicely over this dress and the neckline is perfect because it lets the button trim peek out! yeah!
Included detail of little skulls and spider patches on my Elope. I love this Elope pocket!!!! I think I might have cut mine deeper to make sure my phone fit. I also cut my Elope longer than the pattern.
I guess I should share that I have a lot of 'halloween theme', monster, critters etc. in my sewing projects. I have a line of art dolls I create that are Zombie and Classic Monster Sock Monkeys and I like to make clothing that I can wear while vending and exhibiting my dolls. It is easer to just make than try to find something to buy. Of course who knows when the next time will be to exhibit new doll designs.....!
I sewed Kelli over the winter too. Front and Back view. Worn over a REcut Long slip and Prairie Slip (shown below) On the back of Kelli is a image transfer machine appliqué of Godzilla. :) I love Godzilla, I grew up with him/her. I messed up the neck line of Kelli, In my frustration had recut things before I FINALLY figured out what I had done wrong, but oh well...this work too. Looks good over a black or Gray long sleeve knit shirt.
detail of spider and machine free hand embroidery. Elope looks great over Kelli too.
This is my Prairie....oh my I so hate trying to spell that word...it make my brain hurt. I spell it wrong every time! Anyway, I love this slip I wear with everything....just about... Fabric is some kind of distressed Halloween fabric after Halloween sale really cheap at Joanns who was trying to just about give it away! I love it. Only problem l2 little Yorkies jumping up to give kisses and hugs get their toe nails stuck sometimes!.
ReCut long Slip I made a while ago but got to snug in the bust. Opened up the sides and inserted a nice pieice of repurposed stripe linen, sorta gathered under the arm, nice and roomy now and looks good as a long accent piece. Looks great with Prairie (and then Elope, sorry no image).
Prairie over long sleeve turtle neck, I ware this over black jeans, black leggings, long asymmetrical black skirt, I love this dress.
I found this black embroidered top at a clothing exchange...I wear it inside out. Detail shows what fabric looks like on surface, I'd say it was a chiffon fabric. I prefer the wrong side much better.
This was my Frankie I made 2018 winter. I wear it over a long sleeve plush tunic. Frankie is a very soft plush velvet with upholstery and linen scarps, hand sewing - stitching. I made the pin. Besides scary dolls ...that are made out of recycled, dyed, painted socks... I make scary jewelry out of those sock scrapes and found objects, beads, buttons, etc. This Frankie is my 'its a cold winter day and I want to be warm' outfit'.
I also have some summery sewing planned, I even have some things cut out ready to sew... I meant to sew last summer... ready to go. Guess its time to sew them up!
