Just finished the Avalon shift dress in a burned out velvet. Made a few changes, cut the dress in one piece and omitted the pockets. I felt the seam at the bodice would distract from the way the velvet hung. Really spectacular design looking forward to making it again in linen, with all the seams and pockets. Velvet is something I don't get to wear often in Florida, but this time of year we get a few 60 degree days. Joann fabrics had a great selection of velvets lightweight and fun to work with. Starting last Fall I sewed the Trip shirt with its drippy sleeves, and the Kelli dress, and finished up with the Avalon which will be perfect for Valentines day.
