I decide that it was about time to post something!
The most recent projects have been Myra and a pattern that I created by coping the shirt I wear most in my studio. It is one of those waffle knit long sleeve T's that are just pure comfort! to work in.
I also am showing Cara pant that I sewed in the winter sometime...thinking and hoping for spring! now its here!
I like to repurpose heavy weight T-shirt fabrics. I am lucky to live close to Athens OH where our Arts West Community Arts Center once a year has a 'clean out your closets' clothing exchange! Its great...there are LOTS of themed typed/sports t's ... especially mens sizes...that are pitched ...which means lots of bright jewel tone/neutrals and black colors to pick from. I have found Myra to be an excellent pattern to work with repurposed t's.
I wore my most recent Myra to a MFA thesis exhibit last night and got so many compliments!!!! ...where did I get it, do I make them for sale?....what, you made it! I was so very happy...my goal this summer was to make new tops for myself! It is shown with a 3/4 lenght black knit dress but last night I wore with black capris.
The other shirt pattern is the one that I made up from my studio work shirt. I wanted something to wear last month when the new Hellboy movie opened. I had previously bought 3, to small hellboy t'shirt, like ...5 years ago...on sale, cheap, but the wrong size for me. They have sat in my fabric hoard...know what I mean! So, thank you Tina! for your recent 'lets sew' incentives ...!
I dug those 3 t's out and found I had anther one to work with too! So I made a long sleeve version out of the 3 red printed t's and a 3/4 sleeve out of the other printed t plus a couple of repurpose black t's from the same 'repurpose t's want to make pile'! And yes, I went to see Hellboy twice! and had a new top to wear for both... because I love his character/movies...i have followed for years. red print long sleeve I wore with black capris, the 3/4 sleeve I wore with Cara pant.

Am so excited with what you did, love the idea of making so many individual items so uniquely. You're a genius.
Oh my goodness! I’ve been waiting for a quiet moment to comment. These pieces are so unique and fabulous. I am loving what you have done and how you do it! Taking a simple pattern and making it totally your own! Now that’s what I am talking about. so very creative and fun. Absolutely fabulous girl!
thank you for your kind comments....
I have been following your webpage of beautiful patterns (many that I have and not sewn yet!) for about 3 years.
It is so inspiring what you have done to ignite that sewing spirit in me!
I have always wanted to sew my style but as a full time working WOMEN ...it is/was so hard! ...to find that time for creativity..... :(
It's easier now, being retired... and with all your inspiration and time you (and your team!) have put into inspiring others to sew ...that I have hopes of a new wave of creative sewing for SELF that happens for all your followers!
You make it easy for us with the simplicity/creativity of your patterns to be inspired to dive into that fabric hoard that we have been storing (for years), waiting for that right moment, to make us feel creatively happy to wear what makes us....feel happy! ...and not JUST something to put on and go to work! ..and that we created for ourselves!
thank you! ...for your vision...for all of us!
Danette
