I bought a load of linen in a green that when I got it, was way too 'hard' and not really something I would wear. Well yesterday I tried bleaching it! I think that the linen fibre might have been damaged a bit as it is 'shedding' quite a lot unfortunately but wow... it's mustard yellow! not something I'd wear next to my face but as pants I would be ok with it!
Before:

And after bleaching! (the before green isn't how it was in real life, it was quite dark and 'hard' as a green.

There are still some faded green parts but not very noticeable and not on all of it.
Awesome!
Thanks Tina!
Good solution!
Great idea. I’ll have to try that also!
I would be careful as I think the fibres are weakened quite a lot from the bleach unfortunately. It's shedding loads of fluff :(
Looks great! Do rinse it in a hydrogen peroxide solution to stop the bleaching. Just rinsing or even washing won't do that.
I don't have any access to HP unfortunately but I did rinse and wash twice - doesn't seem to be continuing to bleach so hopefully it's ok!
Though you may not see a color change it will continue to weaken the fibers....but hey, if you can't get it, you can't. You could try baking soda, just not vinegar or anything acid. Best of luck, and I love the color!
Thank you! Hmm, that's frustrating if it will still decay it. I have lots of baking soda so I will try that (just soaking it in it?). Otherwise what an expensive mistake!
Let me know how it works.....yep just soak. Time will tell, but that should do okay.
