Off topic for TG so apologies, but I'm planning on being a bit more brave (pattern wise!) and making a regular mans shirt for my chap, collar and cuffs etc, front placket, buttons and so on.
Have any of you made one and if so, what sort of time should I set aside for myself to make it?
Thank you!
Bravo! I’ve made shirts in the past. Take your time and plan on at least a few days of on and off sewing. You’ll need interfacing for the collar, cuffs, and placket, and you’ll be making a lot of button holes. Have your ironing station nearby. It’s fussy sewing that I don’t enjoy anymore (I’m into more instant gratification now😉), but I applaud your efforts in the name of love. Good luck Emily and show us when you finish.
Thank you! Yeah I think I do have lots of interfacing from back when I used to sew YEARS ago in my stash! I don't really enjoy it either (I'm very impatient) but I want to make him at least two shirts. One a lovely grey thin stripe in linen and the other a plum linen. Just hate the prospect of all the goddamned little fiddly bits!
Yum tailoring so much fun and a change from lagen outfits.
I suppose it is! I always think of jackets/suits for tailoring in my head for some reason.
