HI I am a newby and excited by the design opportunities for STG patterns. I am about to make the Cara pants. The back and front are the same and I notice it seems to have a really low crotch, hence the same back and front. Can anyone tell me what they think of the fit of these please and how the top feels with no extra in the back crotch. are most of the pants patterns similar? many thanks cheers Ann

Hi Annie. Many of the pants are similar in that they are very roomy, have an elastic waist and a low crotch. They are SUPER comfortable! I tend to raise the crotch on mine by about 3-4 inches and still have lots of room. Yes, there is no front or back unless you add pockets or something to differentiate the two sides. Always a good idea to measure the pattern before you cut make sure you will have plenty of room in the hips! Good luck!
Hi Ann, I agree with Pamela. The pants are really comfy, but not tailored by meaning of fitted. They are intended to hang loose and to be worn with a long shirt or shift hanging over the waist, so it does not matter, that the waist area is sometimes a bit bulky or shapeless. A bit like 19th century bloomers, I guess :)
The pants usually are very roomy, so I did not have any problems yet to get my behind into them, even though I usually choose a quite smaller size to cut in the pattern than my actual retail fashion size. There are a few exceptions to this rule, for e.g. is the Elope pant less roomy than the Cara. I also often lift the crotch by about 10 cm.
I guess it might be a good thing to make your first try on the pants in a not too pricey fabric to get a feel for the making and to check, whether you like the waist area or not.
I made me a Cara last month in a midweight linen and I quite literally wear it every day since when it´s not in the laundry. It´s a great pattern and so easy to make.
